The ANSI Z358.1 Standard Requires that when the user is splashed by a corrosive (airborne or otherwise), the effective user should be within 10 seconds of a shower, eyewash, eye-facewash, or combination shower an eyewash (eye/face wash). The worker should be trained on where the emergency equipment is because their sight may be impaired. When activating the equipment, water should flow in one second and at the proper GPM it is designed or specified to operate and at the proper temperature. If none of these things are covered and an accident takes place Emergency Shower and Eyewash Equipment should mitigate the extent of the injury. This can sometimes be the difference between life and death and cost much more that the equipment that should have been there to protect the worker. It could affect a family's generation ultimately.
